In early December (2006) NCPR was contacted by a couple living near Santa Cruz County. They asked that their identities remain
private, so we will call them 'Dick' and 'Jane' for telling purposes. Jane had emailed us at her wits end, requesting immediate assistance.
She described a great deal of paranormal activity going on in her home over the years. It was only recently that these events began to
take on a malicious and terrifying tone. During an interview with Jane, she told us she had seen atleast 3 seperate apparitions on
numerous occasions. One apparition in particular, an older man dressed in a 1950's style suit and attire had been seen up to three times
a week. She had also heard sounds like bangs and thuds throughout the two unit house. These events were experienced by Jane mainly,
but other guests of the couple had witnessed plenty of strange things themselves.

The latest development, very strange "shadow" forms appearing during the night are what changed the situation from curious to
frightful. Jane described these human like shadow forms were accompanied by a very foul stench, and had appeared in her bedroom on
multiple occasions, and sometimes in pairs. Since the latest appearance of these forms (just after Thanksgiving 2006,) Dick and Jane
had stopped sleeping in that bedroom altogether. The couple decided they needed help, if not some validation of what they were going
through.

After interviewing Jane, Tom and I decided this case would not wait. We cleared our schedules and were on our way to Dick & Janes
within days. It was almost comical when we noted it was a dark and stormy Friday night when we had arrived. After meeting with Dick
and Jane and a tour of the home, we got down to business on a game plan for investigating the hot spots in the house. The upstairs
consisted of another living space, and there apparently the couple had experienced the majority of the activity. We decided to set up
our equipment in the appartment and got to work. The appartment itself was not very big so we did not need a whole lot of gear to
cover it sufficiently. We set up DVR cams, a Sony mini-DV as well as placing a pair of Digital Voice Recorders (Sony & Olympus) in
seperate rooms of the loft. A base EMF sweep showed nothing out of the norm. I took digital snapshots with a camera, while Tom
snapped away with a 35mm camera. Throughout the night we did EMF sweeps, EVP sessions, watched cameras, took pictures and
stayed very vigilant. We did hear and feel a couple of loud thuds, but otherwise didn't personally experience much in then way of
paranormal activity. We ended up with hours upon hours of video and audio and a good deal of pictures to examine when morning
came.

We thanked Dick and Jane for having us and told them we would need a few days to pour through our collected footage and would get
back to them shortly. Over the next week Tom and I had the fun job of collectively watching and listening to video or audio. Our video
didn't seem to yield much, some pretty cool orb flurries which we were able to dismiss as dust. It was the audio that proved interesting.
Tom had took one of the recorders, and I had the other. Tom called me and said he had found what sounded like an EVP early on
during the review of his recorder. I was pretty stoked to hear that and started to examine my own recorder. Sure enough I found what I
can only describe as an EVP on mine. We shared our evidence and found something pretty strange, it was the very same EVP on both
recorders. The Sony recorder was placed in an upstairs bedroom (the entrance of this room can be seen on the mini-DV cam video
below), while the Olympus recorder was placed at the entance of the appartment, downstairs... How did this 'whisper' appear on both
recorders at what seems to be precisely the same time? What's even more curious is when we went over the Sony mini-DV footage, you
can hear the exact same sound on that as well. The time frames line up, the voice appears on all three recording devices capable of
sound.

Paranormal or just film problems? Regardless of what it is, it doesn't show up
on any other pics and its visible on the negative.

The flash in all of the pics just lit up the room, they
didn't radiate like this one did. We assume that its
just an exposure problem, but it had a really cool
effect!
